  1. Unbelievable Elegant Experience

Our goal this past weekend in Montrose, PA was to find a cozy but elegant B&B for two days rest which we could use as a home away from home and as a base of sorts to visit the immediate community and other surrounding areas, all of which we hoped we would fondly remember. Little did we know that TheRosemontInnBB.com was “THE ONE” that more than met our expectations for a number of reasons.

As we pulled into the driveway an hour after the sun had set, I wondered if after 2.5 hours of driving, we had inadvertently turned into the rear parking lot of a Presidential Residence for the way it looked. The house was magnificent and each interior public room was presented in the heritage of a clock that stopped ticking one hundred or more years ago. The experience reminded me of the grandiose nature of the Biltmore Estates seamlessly merged with the Pocono Resorts and Lodges.

What clearly made this experience possible for us was the effort of Penny Eldred, also known as the Inn Keeper. Aside from her escorting us to the third floor room we requested and feeding us two great breakfasts sufficient to resolve our appetites, we learned a great deal about the history of the community from her.

    1. We’re looking for a title report on a specific property – any idea where we can find it? “It’s in that building two blocks down the street.” Oh, and that building had historical records of every property transfer that ever occurred in the community. It was secured behind what appeared to be a 400 lb. steel door on the first floor – but was open to the public! The records covered several rooms to the point where you needed a two story ladder to reach them. Historical indeed!
    2. If we were interested in a variety of choice for a reasonably priced dinner, would it be OK if we asked you for a suggestion? “It’s 2 miles down the road – the IOP Restaurant.” And while we didn’t order pizza, the serving size of linguine pasta and shrimp was sufficient for leftovers that we had the following day.
Massive presentation of historical furniture and floor rugs in many public areas. Oh, you need a book? Just look around at some of the thousands there. Ummm, when you’re finished reading, be sure to return them upon your departure. I wouldn’t be surprised if weddings were accommodated there too, for some of the larger rooms sat dozens. You need to sit by a fireplace for breakfast? It’s already waiting for you.

Penny Eldred was clearly an individual who was christened with the ability to multi-task at auspicious tasks. Yes, the “TheRosemontInnBB.com” has walnut racks, walnut shelves, and more walnut racks of books (just a rough guess – maybe 3,000?) for visitors who enjoy reading nearly any subject matter they choose. She also shares the responsibility of organizing and presenting the township that is more “normal” than you would think elsewhere so everybody remembers the holidays.

While we were driving through the town on our arrival, blocks of tree lights illuminated our way to our destination. I’m old enough to make the comment “Yes, finding our way to “The Rosemont Inn BB”
    was magical for us.

In summary, I’m not getting paid for writing this summary for our two day magical visit. But I did want to take the time to share our profound personal experience and let you know that if there were as many stars, we’d give our experience a “FIVE STAR rating. Hope that shows up somewhere.

Someone has to make the decorations – that’s Penny coordinating the town elfs. She’s expecting a half a dozen film crews and over 6,000 folks just walking through the public areas of “TheRosemontinnBB.com” over a few days.
In summary, Penny is as smart as a rocket scientist, humble as pie, kinder than anyone you can imagine, and really extends the sincerity of her welcoming hand to all visitors. Oh, and I forgot to tell you that she can pilot a boat too in the most awful conditions imaginable…

As many visitors may have already said, “Yes. I’d like to be her friend too!” Well, we respectfully and hopefully request that you add us on to the end of the package as your friends as well !!!

Would we ever return to this BNB?

    In a heartbeat, indeed!

    Just our opinion…

    -Mark & Karin

  2. We stayed at the Rosemont Inn this past weekend and felt right at home the minute we arrived. My husband grew up in Montrose and we walked by the Inn many times. We moved away three years ago and finally got a chance to return to town and stay there. It did not disappoint. The accommodations were perfect for an amazing weekend getaway. I would highly recommend the Rosemont Inn! Also, Ragine is the perfect Inn Keeper, so welcoming and accommodating. She made our stay so special, and the food was delicious! We will definitely return!
